Motor Skills Path Saalbach: Obstacle Course Right Across from Pension Norika
The Motor Skills Path in Saalbach starts right on the other side of the bridge from Pension Norika – simply cross the Saalach and you’re standing at the start of the course on the Saalachpromenade. Across roughly 3 to 4 kilometers between Saalbach and the Jausern district, 24 stations wait to train coordination, balance, and strength in a playful way. Use is free of charge and the path is open from spring until the first onset of winter in late autumn.
For guests of Pension Norika, this means: no drive, no car, no planning. Shoes on, across the bridge, and the training can begin – before breakfast, or as a relaxed wind-down after a mountain hike.
Is the motor skills path just a motor-skills path, or more of an obstacle course for every level?
The name “Motorikweg” only captures part of what’s waiting here – in practice, this is a full obstacle course with creatively named stations such as the spider’s web, the stretching oasis, the alpine water-ski wall, target fishing, or even a kitesurf simulator. Each station challenges a different aspect of movement: balance, jumping power, agility, precision.
This variety is exactly what makes the path interesting for very different types of guests. Joggers use the flat, fully paved promenade as an ideal running route and weave individual stations in as short training breaks. Mountain bikers and cyclists, on the other hand, appreciate the balance stations to sharpen coordination off the trail – useful preparation for the technical bike trails around Saalbach-Hinterglemm. And anyone looking to warm up before a mountain hike, or loosen up the legs after the descent, will find a short, alpine-ready workout right on their doorstep.
Which stations of the obstacle course does Pension Norika recommend most?
With 24 stations to choose from, a little pre-selection helps – Pension Norika especially recommends these three:
Station 22 – Different Walking: unusual walking and balance patterns that challenge foot muscles and coordination at the same time.
Station 23 – Stone Path: a path across uneven stone formations, ideal for training the footing you’ll need on your next mountain day.
Station 24 – 3D Coordination Trail: the most demanding station on the path, calling on balance and spatial coordination simultaneously.
All three are located at the Saalbach end of the route – guests starting from Pension Norika across the bridge reach them within just a few minutes, with no need to walk the full distance to Jausern.
Where exactly does the motor skills path start when walking from Pension Norika?
The starting point is, quite literally, right outside the door for Pension Norika guests: cross the bridge from the guesthouse and you’re standing directly on the Saalachpromenade, on the “Motorikweg”. Since it’s a linear path, you can start in either direction – toward Saalbach center for a short loop covering the recommended stations 22 to 24, or toward Jausern for the full length of the route.
